Melissa Silié Ruiz joined the firm in 2015 as a junior lawyer and after collaborating as a senior lawyer since 2019, she was promoted to partner in charge of the business department since 2022. During her years of practice, Melissa Silié has assisted in a wide range of mergers, acquisitions and financings, as well as advising clients operating in various markets.

She was recognized in 2021 and 2022 by the prestigious international guide Chambers and Partners as an «associate to watch» in the business area, as well as being recognized by the international Legal 500 guide, who highlighted her participation in both the litigation area and in the business area.

She graduated in 2011 with a law degree from UNIBE, Summa Cum Laude, with the highest rate of graduates being recognized as valedictorian. She has a Master’s Degree

in Business Law (LLM) from the University of Manchester and a Master’s Degree in State Administration Law (IGLOBAL-University of Salamanca). She also has specialized studies in regulatory and competition matters such as the Intensive Course on Competition Law of Pro Competition and the IDB, and the Course on Regulation and Competition Law organized by the University of Valladolid in 2018.

She has assisted a diverse variety of clients in international local financing. She recently assisted an international financial entity in a financing for a local entity whose funds would be dedicated to small businesses. She has worked with acquisitions and mergers in markets for free zones, alcoholic beverages, energy, family businesses, among others. She constantly assists in asset reorganization projects.

She has extensive experience in energy matters, both in mergers and acquisitions processes and of other natures, including her participation in the largest green bond issue in Central America carried out by CMI for the financing of various renewable energy projects in the region including the Dominican Republic. Likewise, in 2021 she assisted a client in the public bidding process coordinated by the Ministry of Energy of the Dominican Republic. She assisted various international financial entities in various amendments made to the contracts signed within the framework of the financing of the Punta Catalina Thermoelectric Power Plant. In 2022, she advised a financing carried out by IDB-Invest

to a group of companies with operations throughout the Caribbean and that are currently developing solar panel projects throughout the region, including the country.

Her practice areas include business, administrative, competition, arbitration, stock market, financial, consumer, and civil litigation law, among others.

She has had the opportunity to represent economic agents in more than four cases brought before the competition authority. Likewise, she has assisted clients in various transactions related to mergers and acquisitions, negotiations for termination of distribution contracts protected by Law No. 173-66, restructuring of companies including family businesses, among others. Recently she has collaborated in cases related to the stock market and new technologies.

She shares her private practice with teaching in competition matters and has contributed to various publications for which she has been recognized. She is a member of the Justice and Legislation Commission of the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE) and of the board of the UNIBE Alumni Circle.
