Before joining the firm as Partner, Mrs. Luz Diaz Rodríguez founded the law firm Núñez Trejo Diaz Lawyers and Consultants, a firm dedicated exclusively to the practice of criminal law, and she assisted important economic groups, corporations and public entities.Mrs. Diaz is a renowned criminal lawyer who has accumulating years of successful practice through her participation in complex cases of economic criminal law and business criminal law. Mrs. Diaz was instrumental in the reform of the criminal law system as part of the team created to implement the modifications and reforms of this jurisdiction and the whole region. Her academic background and experience allow her to understand all the aspects involved in economic criminal law cases.She has participated in the three criminal banking law cases with the most relevant implications in the history of the Dominican judicial system. She has also been retained by the Monetary and Financial Administration in cases against financial intermediary entities, and has been responsible for the defense of different managers involved in cases of this nature. In this same capacity, she has also been responsible for the defense of hundreds of depositors who have been victims of banking fraud in financial corporations.Mrs. Díaz was a member of the team for the review of the criminal regulation of the Financial and Monetary Law 183-02, coordinator of the Program to Reinforce Criminal Prosecution in the Electric System and Professor of Strategic Litigation for Prosecutors in the Escuela Nacional del Ministerio Público (ENMP) during the last decade. She is a member of the International Criminal Law Association (AIDP by its acronym in Spanish) and founding member and executive of AIDP- República Dominicana Inc. Furthermore, she was also Director of Projects Implementation for the Fundación Institucionalidad y Justicia (FINJUS).Currently, Mrs. Díaz is a tenured Professor of Commercial and Corporate Law as well as Criminal Procedural Law in the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM).
